Chapter VIII – Psalm Sixty-Nine Dude! - Sex, Drugs, Rock and Roll, Bill and Ted, Keanu and Crowley
All right, let's see, Sex, Drugs and Rock n' Roll - where to begin!?
Okay, sex it is. - At the center of this image we see a kinda Keanu-looking Buddhist-deity dude in a Tantric embrace with an Eastern Goddess Babe - they each hold various implements related to Tibetan Vajrayana practice - and a multilevel aura surrounds them as they sit upon their big lotus platform. Darn that sex part was all too brief. Oh yeah, the sex part also shows up in traditional holy symbols of the Ancient Egyptian Ankh, the Hindu "Om", and the Masonic Square and Compass - all shown here a little bit above the Goddess-God couple - and with their sexual meaning emphasized a bit more than usual.
But moving on - in the same vein a big starry goddess arches above them framing out the whole top of the page - this is the Ancient Egyptian Goddess Nuit - goddess of the starry heavens and infinite space. Just a little below her is the winged Sun disk - also known as Hadit - the central point of Being in all life. Together these two form a kind of Yin and Yang duality also echoed in the star and infinity telephone keys found below Nuit's feet and hands - as in the Yin and Yang Tai-Ji symbol itself found right under her belly.
Alright, drugs, these are mainly depicted as the chemical formula for psilocibin and and DMT (I believe) scattered around the top middle of the picture.
As for the rock n' roll aspects of this picture their mainly limited to the piano keys with octave notes and the pentagram-like guitar at the middle left.
Now for the individual that ties all of these picture elements together: Aleister Crowley the infamous poster child of 20th-century Magick. Here Crowley can be seen in his characteristic "mushroom pose" a little below the head of Nuit and the symbols of his two best-known magical orders the A.A. and the O.T.O. can be seen at center to the left of Crowley himself - in the circular and vesica-pisces-shaped seals respectively. Crowley's uni-cursal hexagram and unique way of writing "Oz" are to be seen between the two order seals and just below him respectively.
Other more general symbols of the magical arts show up throughout the page, such as the four "magical animals" at the corners of the page, and the four "magical weapons" the wand, sword, cup and disc or pentacle are scattered around throughout the picture.
Billy the Kid is in there too along with some Greek and Enochian magical text and a few other magical symbols of duality - and Bill and Ted's Phone Booth depicted as a magical ceremonial altar too.
